Kunagises kunstiülikoolis õpetati ”aga pea meeles: ära kunagi maali kassi ega parti”. Kõik õpilased ei kuulanud sõna ja kasse on maalitud ka nüüdsel ajal täpselt nagu läbi ajalugu. Keegi ei sa pidurdada kunstniku kui ta on leidnud endale motiivi millele ta saab oma isiksust ja kujutlus võimet projitseerida.

 

Kass on eriline loom tugeva auraga ja paljud arvavad et tal on ravimvõimed ja oskab energiad tõsta. Ja kunagisel Atlantisesse sattus ta planeet Siiriusest et meid inimesi aidata maapeal toime tulla.

Siis Siiriusest Kalamajja.

Kunstnikud August Künnapu, Kristi Kongi, Kadi Kuremaa, soomest Karoliina Paapa ja Bie Erenurm jagavad oma nägemusi koos tegijatega alles möödunud Kassimaalimise töötubas, kus olid ka kunstnikud, nagu Eva Labotkin ja Ants Jaanimägi. Mitmekülgne näitus omapärases ja hubases kohas nagu uus Galerii KELDER.

Kungla tänav 34, Kalamajas. Buss nr 3 Kungla peatusele või tramm Volta peatusele. Autoga mööda Soo ja keerake paremale Kungla tänaval. Jala Kultuurikilomeetri löppus läbi lastepargi.

Näitus jääb avatuks kuni juuni keskpaika.

WHO? CAT! WHERE? FROM SIRIUS TO KALAMAJA. Opening 24th May at 18.00 

Once in estonian artschool students where told to never paint a cat or a duck. Well... they did. Now this exhibition with August Künnapu, Kristi Kongi, Kadi Kurema, Bie Erenurm and finnish Karoliina Paapa. Nobody can tell an artist what to NOT paint! The works are shown together with paintings from the Catpainting workshop, that was visited even by the president Ilves - a name wich happen to mean LYNX. So of course he was there, the right place to be for small cats and big cats. 

All served sushi by Sushi Cat, a cosy suchy restaurant in Tallinn.

The Cat is a mysterious being, many think she once came from the stars to man to help us with the every day struggles on earth. From Sirius to Kalamaja.

CAT!

There is much to be said about the cat. Once upon a time the Artschools teached: "whatever you do, don´t you ever paint a cat or a duck!" All pupils didnt obey this, and cats has been painted before and ever since. Nothing can stop an artist that has found himself/herself a motive through wich she/he can project her inner self and her fantasies.

Kings throughout Africa used to employ a special servant, whose job it was to protect and care for the cats. This man was called “the Keeper of the Cats”. And he was always a fearless individual because he had to be prepared, if necessary, to die for the felines in his care.

Western man has come to believe that he is the master of all living things, and that nature is there to be tamed, and at best; despised broken, and destroyed at worst. It has lead to a very dangerous situation: the belief that human beings can build a shining technological future without animals, trees, and other life forms. Until this attitude is combated and erased from the human mind, Westernized human beings will be a danger to all earthly life, including themselves.

I say we must take a great spiritual step backwards. We must embrace the original view of creation; that everything around us is a part of one great and interconnected whole. We must change this habit of regarding ourselves as superior or special creatures. This misconception has led us to the very brink of destruction.

We have become denatured. In Old Afrika we believed that human beings could not exist without animals, birds, and fishes or trees. We believed that the whole universe was not only around us, but also within us. For this reason many African Gods were depicted as part-animal and part-human. If your God had the body of a man and a head of a lion, I ask you, would you shoot lions for sport?

We live in prophetic times, the white lions have returned recently as prophets of this new age.

But why are they white? We believe that camouflage comes from the soul of the animal. The white lions appear white. They can also appear invisible.

Our people believe that the lion is a beast like no other. It is something more important, more sacred. All cat-animals, from domestic cats to lions, where brought to this earth, we believe to protect human beings and other life forms.

Welcome to the party.
A birthday party without a birthday child.
A party for those who were planned but never born. A party for those who were born
but never celebrated.

Clusters of balloons along umbilical cords joining the ceiling to the floor.
Joining the pleasure of destruction with the constraints of creativity.
Merging wishfull thinking with reality.
Demand and opportunitiy.

Fragile rubber balloons who easily grow and elongate will just as easy crack and explode.
As simple as a dream of life.

The toothpick is always present.

"The premise of the exhibition was for us to arrive at the gallery with empty hands. Bringing no paintings, no sculptures, no drawings and hardly any concept at all we got 24 hours to fill the void of the Kelder Gallery. We had to get all the material locally, at a strictly limited budget, and set up the show before the 7 o'clock opening. Spontaneous art done quickly."

Ett födelsedagskalas utan födelsedagsbarn.
Kalas för dem som planerats men aldrig fötts. Kalas för dem som fötts men aldrig firats.

Ballonger grupperade i kluster längst navelsträngar som förbinder tak med golv.
Mellan njutningen i att förstöra och
motståndet i att skapa.

Mellan önskan och förverkligande.
Krav och möjlighet.

Sköra gummiballonger som så enkelt kan växa och töjas kan lika enkelt spräckas och smällas.
Lika enkelt som en dröm om liv.

Tandpetaren finns alltid där.

"Utställningen genomfördes på följande premisser: Ta inte med några målningar, skulpturer eller konstverk överhuvudtaget. Knappt några idéer. Använd bara material införskaffat på plats för att inom 24 timmar skapa en utställning och ha vernissage för den i Kelder-galleriet. Spontanutställning med spontankonst."

Kui 1974 aastal kolisin vanematekodust välja, kinkis mulle üks sõber valge pikakarvalise emase Kassi Missan.

Sellest hetkest peale sai minu elus alguse pikk rida Valge Loomadega seotud sünkroonselt aset leidvatele juhtumitele. Minu elus on tähtsal kohal figureerinud küll Valge Kõndiv Karu, Valge Kull ja Valged Lõvid. Sünkroonsused on tekkinud kasvõi nii, et see, mida ma öösel unes olin näinud, on juhtunud pärast päeval, reaalses elus. Ja sellised kordumisi on minu elus tekkinud ikka ja jälle. Uusi seoseid on tekkinud kasvõi läbi kolmandate, asjassepuutumatute isikute kaudu, läbi juhtumite, mis leidsid aset väljaspool minu kontrolli.

Kummaline on see, et samaagselt kui mina oma isiklikus elus - võibolla teiste arvates läbi väga kitsa naisemaailma - olen kogenud Valgeid Loomi nagu tähtsaid sümboleid, on nende tähendus laiemas maailmas ennast paralleelselt manifisteerunud tasemel, mis hõlmab tervet meie planeeti. Indiaanlaste ja teiste ürgrahvaste jaoks on nendes liikides, mis tavaliselt valged ei ole, Valge Looma sünd üks neist märkidest, mis tähendab lootust ja samal ajal võib olla ka tõsine ähvardus. Valge Looma Lugu on üks osa meie suure planeedi pikast ajaloost. Valge Lõvi taasavastamine Lõuna - Aafrikas aastal 1975 ja Valge Pühvli leidmine Põhja - Ameerikas aastal 1994 on meie planeedi ajaloos olnud sama olulised sündmused kui Jeesu sündimine. Valge Loomaga seotud juhtumised ja legendid omavad suurt sümboolset tähendust ürgreligioonides; religioonides, mis on palju vanemad kui praegusel ajal üldlevinud lääne religioonid. Valge Lõvi ja Valge Pühvliga seotud pärimused on sarnased, isegi kui neil on erinevad ajalood ja taostad.

Valged Lõvid elavad Timbavatis, kus nad on The Global White Lion Protection Trust'i poolt võetud looduskaitse alla. Timbavati on koht, mis on Aafrika kuningate ja preestrite (isanuside) jaoks läbi sadade aastate olnud tähtsaks pühapaigaks. ”Tsimba-Vaati” tähendab vanas Shanga keeles: “Koht kuhu maanduvad Tähe-Lõvid”.
Valge Pühvel aga sümboliseerib lootust sõpradest ja positiivsetest muutusest. Tähtsal kohal peab mainima ka Valget Karu, keda nimetetakse ka Kermode karuks, ”The Spirit Bear”. Ta on looduskaitse sümbol, ta kaitseb vihmametsa, mille sees ta elab. Põhjus, miks ta on täiesti valge seisneb selles, et tal on üks retsessivne geen, mis mõjub tema karvavärvile. Sellist geneetilist muutust pruunikaru (Black Bear) karvas esineb ainult Põhja - Kanadas (British Columbia), kus iga kümnes karu sünnib valge.

Indiaanlaste püha looma, Valge Pühvli ettekuulutus on selline:

Inimese ees on praegusel ajastul teelahk. Kas valida tehnoloogia või loodus ja oma õige tõeline mina. Olenemata oma nahavärvist, peavad kõik rahvad - punased, kollased, mustad ja valged - ühinema. Kui inimene teeb vale valiku, hävime me kõik.
Wolakota Foundationi esimees, Siouxi indiaanlaste poolt valitud Valge Pühvli Traditsioon esindaja kutsub üles:
''Pühvel, lõvi, delfiin, vares, pruunkaru, ja nüüd ka põder - neid tuleb kaitsta.''

En del djur föds vita bär en särskild mening i vissa kulturer.

I samband med att jag flyttade hemifrån 1977, skänkte en vän mig en vit långhårig katthona, ”Missan”. Det blev inledningen till en lång rad av synkroniciteter som handlade om Vita Djur. Det var en Vit gående björn, en Vit uggla, Vita lejon. En synkronicitet kunde uppstå t ex så att det jag drömde på natten upprepades ”på riktigt” på dagen. Och sedan igen och igen genom nya händelser förorsakade av tredje person eller situationer utanför min kontroll. 

 

Det märkliga är, att medan jag i min högst privata, och kanske i andras ögon mycket begränsade kvinnovärld, upplevt att Vita Djur för mig visat sig som betydelsefulla symboler, har manifestationen av deras betydelse i världen , skett parallellt. Det som för mig, har varit en privat spirituell resa, har samtidigt manifesterat sig på ett plan som inbegriper hela vår planet. Indianer och andra ursprungsbefolkningar ser födelsen av Vita djur (det gäller de arter som vanligtvis inte är vita) som ett tecken för hopp, parad med en kraftig varning. Det handlar om jordens och mänsklighetens överlevnad.

Återupptäckten av det Vita Lejonet i Sydafrika (1975) och födelsen av Vita Buffeln i Nordamerika (1994); händelser lika stora som i den kristna religionen Jesu födelse, har stor symbolisk betydelse i ursprungsreligioner, religioner som är mycket äldre än våra västerländska religioner. Det vita lejonets och den Vita Buffelns budskap liknar varandra även om de har olika historia och bakgrunder.

De Vita Lejonen lever i Timbavati, som gjorts till reservat där de beskyddas av The Global White Lion Protection Trust. Timbavati av afrikanska kungar och präster (isanusi), sedd som en helig plats i århundraden; ”Tsimba-Vaati” betyder på det gamla Shangaa språket ”platsen där Stjärnlejonen kommer ner från himlen”.

Den Vita Buffeln kommer med hopp om försoning och förändring; den vite mannen kommer att ställas inför ett val. Ska han välja sin teknologi, eller naturen och sitt sanna jag. De röda, gula, svarta och vita folken måste enas. Om den vite mannen gör fel val, går vi alla under.

Nämnas ska också den Vita Björnen, kallad Kermode björnen ”The Spirit Bear”, symbol för en växande miljörörelse som vill skydda regnskogen som den bor i. Att björnen (och de andra djuren här nämnda) är helt vit beror på en recessiv gen som påverkar pälsfärgen. Denna genetiska förändring i brunbjörnens (Black Bear) päls finns bara här i norra Kanada (British Columbia) där var tionde brunbjörn föds vit.
